To use your TV/video equipment abroad when TV system is different. If you own NTSC equipment (for example) and are moving to a country where PAL is the broadcast system, the TR-10sp and TR-11SVHS will make it possible to use your existing equipment while offering the possibility of tape conversion.To convert tapes received from abroad and recorded in a different TV system: if you need to convert tapes from/to PAL/NTSC, for example, you will have to connect the TR-10sp/TR-11SVHS between a PAL VCR and an NTSC VCR;or between a camcorder and a VCR.
